Sleep apnea and snoring

Snoring, sleep apnea and daytime tiredness

Learn when snoring may be more than a sleep habit and why sleep-related breathing disorders should be evaluated.

Snoring is not always harmless

Loud snoring, witnessed pauses in breathing, choking during sleep, morning headaches or unrefreshing sleep can point toward sleep-related breathing disorders rather than just a sleep habit.

Look at daytime effects too

Sleep apnea often shows up outside the bedroom through daytime sleepiness, poor concentration, irritability, reduced work performance or feeling tired despite a full night's sleep.

Know what information helps most

Videos of snoring or breathing pauses, previous sleep studies, weight changes, blood pressure history and current medicines can all help the consultation stay focused and practical.

When a faster review matters

If daytime sleepiness is affecting driving, work safety or severe fatigue, it is better to arrange specialist review sooner rather than treat the issue as routine tiredness.
